JJ - Do you have interest in politics? Yes or no. Why?
Yea I do because in my country Lebanon politics decides everything! Even if you are seeking a job, you must have a “reference” or “a care of” someone important, especially a politician.
JJ - Which is the degree of involvement and knowledge of the citizens of this country related to the politic? Is there a real participation?
Lebanese people talk so much about politics, because it has effects on their own lives. Plus, there are a lot of parties. So each person encourages a politician, even two brothers in the same house can fight because they have totally different politic views. Even small kids have their preferred politicians!
JJ - How do you perceive the politics that is showed in the media of the country? Is it tendentious or impartial?
The Lebanese Medias are so interested in politics: we have daily minimum 10 talk shows about politics while we find rarely a social program! This care comes because each Lebanese media is owned by a politician. For example, the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation (LBC) is for the “Lebanese Forces”. While the Orange TV is for the deputy Michel Aoun, head of the “Tayyar” party. “Al Manar” TV is owned by Hizbolla while the “Future TV” is for Hariri etc…
So, don’t be surprised if you hear the same simple event in four totally different ways. This is because each TV talks about the view of its owner. And if there is a politics problem, then better not to hear any of them!
This makes me wonder if one day we are going to have a neutral media that gives the event like it is, without putting any of personal politician ideas through it.
JJ - What is positive, what is negative in the politics and government?
In Lebanon, I think there is nothing positive in the politics! Lebanese people run after the politicians, while the politicians must work for the citizen’s goodness, not the contrary. Politicians use young people in manifestations when they need to prove their popularity, but when it comes to fix things, everything is postponed. The citizen’s interests are the last concern of a politician, surely except before the elections date in some months!!!
JJ - How the politicians look like for the society? Which are the most common commentaries about politics and politicians?
Well, this depends on the person and its political view. If he likes Mr X, then Mr X is the only politician who says the truth while others are liars.
Thirty years of war and no security made the Lebanese lose the best way to raise their children. I think it’s better to give the child a critical sense so that he can analyze and be a participant in each opinion, not simply a receiver.
JJ - What about the electoral advertising in the country? Do they inform the electors?
The electoral advertising starts before the elections in some months. Each politician likes to look like in talk shows where we will think he is really a saint or a saver that will save Lebanon from the hell. But, we discover later, it was all a way to become a deputy.
JJ - How they deal with the corruption in politics? In which way the majority of the population faces this problem?
Corruption in politic is so big. Some people use their positions to help their electors only or to steel the country money (Lebanese debts became over $80.000.000!!).

Sim, eu me interesso porque em meu país, Líbano, política decide tudo! Mesmo se você está procurando um trabalho, você deve ter uma “referência” ou “aos cuidados” de alguém importante, especialmente um político.
JJ - Qual o grau de envolvimento e de conhecimento dos cidadãos com relação à política? Há participação efetiva dos cidadãos?
O povo libanês fala muito sobre a política, porque tem efeitos em suas próprias vidas. Ale´m do mais, aqui há muitos partidos. Então cada pessoa incentiva um político, mesmo dois irmãos na mesma casa podem discutir porque têm pontos de vista totalmente diferentes sobre os políticos. Mesmo os pequenos têm seus políticos preferidos!
JJ - Como você percebe a política que é mostrada pelos meios de comunicação do país? Estes são tendenciosos ou imparciais?
As mídias libanesas são muitas interessadas na política: Diariamente temos no mínimo 10 Talk show sobre política enquanto raramente encontramos um programa social! Este cuidado vem porque cada um dos meios de comunicação libanês pertence a um político. Por exemplo, a empresa de difusão libanesa (LBC) é das “forças libanesas”. Enquanto a Orange TV é do deputado Michel Aoun, cabeça do partido de “Tayyar”. “Al Manar” TV pertence ao Hizbolla enquanto a “Future TV” é do Hariri etc…
Portanto, não fique surpreso se você ouvir o mesmo simples evento de quatro maneiras totalmente diferentes. Isso acontece porque cada tevê fala sobre a opinião do seu proprietário. E se há um problema político, então melhor é não ouvir nenhum deles! Isto me faz pensar se um dia vamos ter uma mídia neutra que fale de um evento como ele é, sem colocar nenhuma idéia política pessoal através dele.
JJ - O que é positivo, o que é negativo na política e no governo?
No Líbano, eu penso que não há nada positivo na política! O povo libanês está colocado depois dos políticos, quando os políticos deveriam trabalhar para o bem do cidadão, não o contrário. Políticos usam jovens nas manifestações quando precisam provar sua popularidade, mas quando vêm para reparar coisas, tudo fica adiado. Os interesses do cidadão são o último interesse de um político, exceto certamente antes da data de eleições em certos meses!!!
JJ - Como os políticos são vistos pela sociedade? Quais são os comentários mais comuns sobre a política e os políticos?
Bem, isto depende da pessoa e de sua idéia política. Se gostar do Sr. X, então o Sr. X é o único político que diz a verdade enquanto os outros são mentirosos. Trinta anos de guerra e nenhuma segurança fez o libanês perder a melhor maneira de criar suas crianças. Eu penso que é melhor dar à criança um sentido crítico de modo que possa analisar e ser um participante em cada opinião, não simplesmente um receptor.
JJ - Como é a propaganda eleitoral no país? Ela informa bem os eleitores?
A propaganda eleitoral começa alguns meses antes das eleições. Cada político gosta de olhar como nos talk shows onde nós pensaremos que ele é realmente um santo ou um salvador que livrará o Líbano do inferno. Mas, nós descobrimos mais tarde, que foi só uma maneira de transformar-se um deputado.
JJ - Como é tratada a questão da corrupção na política? De que forma a maioria da população encara isso?
A corrupção na política é muito grande. Algumas pessoas usam suas posições para ajudar somente seus eleitores ou para roubar o dinheiro do país (os débitos do Líbano já ultrapassaram $80.000.000!!).
